Seasonal Flu Update
Flu season is upon us! Influenza is a contagious viral infection, which usually causes fever, sore throat, chills, cough, headache, muscle aches, and fatigue. Giving your children the flu vaccine is the best way to prevent them from getting the flu. Vaccination is recommended for all children between the ages of 6 months and 18 years. Foster City Pediatrics is currently experiencing shipping delays for our seasonal flu vaccine from the manufacturers. We anticipate that we will continue to receive shipments, but do not know when the shipments will arrive. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It causes the same symptoms as the seasonal flu: fever, chills, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, muscle aches, and fatigue. The seasonal flu vaccine will not protect you against H1N1 flu, so we recommend that you vaccinate your children to prevent them from getting the H1N1 flu. The Public Health Department is managing the shipments of the H1N1 vaccine. We have received our first shipment of the H1N1 vaccine. We have been told that we will receive more shipments, but do not know the exact dates.
